Pete Hoag started P. C. Hoag & Co. Inc. after graduating college in 1976. He then had the unique opportunity to study under the “world renowned” tree biologist, Dr. Alex Shigo. Dr. Shigo was, at the time, working on tree decay research entitled ‘Compartmentalization of Decay in Trees’ which, to this day, is an integral part of understanding the tree’s defense system.

​Over the next forty years, Pete and his wife, Gloria, integrated numerous company tree health procedures based on scientific research benefiting their clients’ trees and landscapes.
