Thank you for supporting this program. As we get ready to fire up our woodstoves for the coming season, here are a couple of reminders about Woodshare protocols: You must have a voucher to take firewood from our storage depot at the transfer station. We lost a lot of our inventory last season to folks who took wood without documentation. Although Woodshare clients aren't means-tested, the program is primarily designed to fill supply gaps for those folks who may fall short of the resources needed to keep warm. We're an all-volunteer working group that relies on wood donations to fuel our operation and we're not set up to give firewood away to those who can normally afford to buy their own. If you need wood, stop by the town hall and ask for a voucher. Please keep in mind that we rely on wood donations (log length, rounds or split wood) to maintain our inventory. Kindly contact the Woodshare Coordinator if you'd like to drop off wood at our depot. If you don't have the means to deliver your wood donation to our depot, please contact us for a pick-up. That said, we're all set on wood supplies for the coming season. Let us know if you'd like to join the list of volunteers who help process and/or deliver firewood. We can always use more hands! Right now we're in search of folks who can lend us a log splitter for our upcoming fall work sessions..... And a word about pallets: You don't need permission to drop off - or pick up - any pallets stored at our depot. For drop-offs, the pallets should be in perfect shape (no missing parts or rotten wood). Sandwich Transfer Station 2023-2024 facility stickers are required for use of the Transfer Station (and swimming facilities). Stickers are available for purchase at Town Hall, by mail or by drop box. Transfer Station use is strictly prohibited for vehicles without stickers/passes (even for longtime residents!). Sandwich Transfer Station hours are Sunday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday from 8 am to 4 pm. Please arrive at the Transfer Station at least 15 minutes before closing to allow for unloading and closure for the day. Kevin and John appreciate being able to close on time. Reminder: if you are recycling larger cardboard, please be sure it is cut to a maximum size of 4' x 4'. Larger pieces jam up our compactors!
