Sandwich’s 125th Old Home Week kicks off with the 48th Annual Bob Biddle Tennis Tournament. (Sat.-Sat.) Ages 10 and older. Pre-register by Friday, August 4. Parks & Recreation 603-387-2180.
Stop by the Village Green in front of the Sandwich Fine Craft Gallery at 32 Main Street, for the Farmers’ Market from 10 till noon. If you like quiet, small town markets with peak of the season veggies, local meats, and down home music, this is the one for you!
Later in the day is your opportunity to take in a Shakespeare play. From 5:30 to 7:00 PM, is Advice to the Players’ opening performance of War of the Roses: She-wolves & Queens, Part 1, Shakespeare’s tale of the battles between the Lancasters and the Yorks (and the French!--used as inspiration for Game of Thrones. Come see epic sword fights, complex family drama, and the women behind the wars. Bring a blanket, chair or picnic for this ‘in the park’ relaxed performance. Quimby Park, 8 Maple Street. Sunday, August 6
At 9 am, you can start your day with a little exercise and competition, with an adult pick-up soccer game. Quimby Field. Contact Parks and Recreation at 603-387-2180 for more information.
The Community Church of Sandwich invites you to their Hymn Sing beginning at 10 am at the Baptist Meetinghouse, 12 Church Street. Worship will include prayer, scripture, communion, and singing favorite hymns. Come and make a joyful noise unto the Lord!
From 11 till 2 on Sunday will be a One and Two-Room Schoolhouse Alumni Picnic for all who attended schoolhouses in Sandwich. Bring a lunch and a chair; dessert and beverages provided. Friends and guests welcome. Lower Corner Schoolhouse, 22 Schoolhouse Road, rain or shine.

One particularly interesting event will be happening at 4 PM on Sunday, 8/6. Meet the Souls of Sandwich Past. This will include interactive conversation at the Rural and Old Baptist Cemeteries with figures from historical Sandwich. Meet in the Baptist Meetinghouse parking lot, 12 Church Street. Monday, August 7
From 9 am till noon Monday, the Parks and Recreation Department will be sponsoring a fishing derby for children 12 and younger. Meet at Little Pond, Little Pond Road. At 6 pm, the Selectmen will have a Summer Selectmen’s Meeting, an opportunity to recap the year and learn about upcoming priorities. Located at Town Hall, 8 Maple Street. Tuesday, August 8
Bright and early at 8:30 am on Tuesday, August 8, the Pickle Ball Tournament begins. Random Draw, located at Tennis Courts. Contact Parks and Recreation at 603-387-2180. The rain date will be August 9.
Old Plants for Modern Humans – a foraging walk. This interesting event is sponsored by the Sandwich Historical Society. Location – Chapman Sanctuary and Visny Woods, 740 Mt. Israel Road. From 10 am till 4 pm, The Friends of the Library Annual Book Sale features a superb selection of books for children, young adults, and adults. Cookbooks, travel, fiction, mystery, nonfiction, biographies. Funds raised support community programs at the Samuel H Wentworth Library. The book sale will take place at the Smith Building in the Sandwich Fairgrounds.

Wednesday, August 9
To honor the 30th anniversary of the Bearcamp River Trail, the Sandwich Conservation Commission is sponsoring a guided hike on the Bearcamp River trail. Meet at the Bearcamp pond parking lot at 8 am, rain or shine.
The Sandwich Historical Society’s Elisha Marston House Museum, Barn and Gift Shop will be open from 10-4. The summer exhibit: “Tiny Treasure, Great Joy!” is sure to delight. Located at 4 Maple Street. More information at sandwichhistorical.org.
Also from 10 to 4, the Friends of the Library Book Sale continues at the Smith Building in the Fairgrounds. 10:30 am till noon, the 92nd Annual Youth Softball Game takes place at Quimby Field. The game is for ages 9-15, co-ed. Immediately following at 12 pm, is a cookout at Quimby Field sponsored by Camp Hale.

Artisans on the Green takes place on Thursday, August 10 from 10am till 4 pm at the Town Green, 32 Main Street. One day art and craft fair featuring local artists selling handmade crafts. Enjoy craft demonstrations and food. Centersandwich.nhcrafts.org for more information.
A Parade! At 10:30, the Bike, Trike, and Doll Carriage Parade starts at Quimby Field. There will be prizes!
The Sandwich Woman’s Club is hosting their traditional luncheon and raffle on the green from 11 am till 1 pm. Visit with friends while enjoying homemade sandwiches, beverages, and desserts. Proceeds support community events sponsored by the Sandwich Woman’s Club, founded in 1928.

The Sandwich Fire and Rescue Association sponsors a pancake breakfast and open house at the fire station from 8 til 10:30 am. Proceeds go to community charity work. Get a delicious breakfast of Pancakes, eggs, sausage, coffee and juice for only $8.00 for adults, or $5.00 for children 12 and under. Central Fire Station, 23 Wentworth Hill Road.
From 8 am till 5 pm, the 48th Annual Bob Biddle Tennis Tournament Finals take place, at the Quimby Tennis Courts.
